Double Act suggests a theatre stage by using
a spotlight to project the image of a red theatre
curtain onto a wall and an ellipse of light onto
the floor. While the work plays on the sense
of illusion, it is in fact quite structural—a
horizontally split image projected into a right
angle, with both vertical and horizontal focal
planes. The work accentuates the notion of
the ‘binary’, with everything revolving around
the idea of two parts, from the title to the
elements and media to the distortion of the
light itself.

Double Act erinnert an eine Theaterbühne:
Ein Scheinwerfer projiziert das Bild eines roten
Bühnenvorhangs auf die Wand des Ausstellungsraums und zu einer Ellipse gebündeltes
Licht auf den Boden. Die Arbeit spielt mit
Illusionen, ist aber in Wirklichkeit rein formal –
ein horizontal geteiltes Bild wird in eine rechtwinklige Ecke projiziert, mit einer vertikalen
und einer horizontalen Brennebene. Das Werk
betont die Vorstellung vom »Binären«, alles
dreht sich um die Zweiteiligkeit, vom Titel
über die Bestandteile und Hilfsmittel bis zur
Krümmung des Lichts selbst.
