October 2024
President ’ s Message
Greetings ,
October has been another exceptional month for our University , with impactful events and inspiring accomplishments that speak to the heart of who we are . I want to thank everyone who came together to celebrate and observe National Latino Physician Day , National Coming Out Day , PA Week , Breast Cancer Awareness Month , and Domestic Violence Awareness Month . These gatherings provided space for reflection , joy , and solidarity , underscoring the importance of identity and inclusion within the CDU family . It is truly moving to see our students , staff , and faculty foster connections and amplify the voices of our diverse community .
Our commitment to health equity also took center stage beyond our campus at the Taste of Soul Family Festival , where CDU ’ s presence shone brightly . Thank you to all who represented CDU with pride at this historic event .
This month ’ s activities reflect the Mighty Lion spirit that fuels the CDU community ’ s openness and dedication to uplifting those who are too often marginalized . This spirit , so integral to our mission , fits beautifully with the approaching holiday season — a time to reflect on compassion , giving , and our shared responsibility toward one another . Whether engaging in service-learning trips to the Dominican Republic , building awareness around crucial health and social justice issues , or celebrating each other ’ s identities , we are unified by a commitment to making the world a more equitable and understanding place .
I remain grateful to each of you for playing a vital role in bringing this vision to life and for always demonstrating that our strength as a community is rooted in its diversity , empathy , and a resolve to create a better , healthier world for all .
Sincerely ,
Dr . David M . Carlisle , MD , PhD . President and CEO
