AlumniConnect Features COSH Alumna Nneoma Duruhesie

CDU Alumna Nneoma Duruhesie was the featured speaker for the recent AlumniConnect event . Duruhesie is a College of Science and Health double alumna (‘ 15 & ‘ 19 ) and the founder and CEO of Wazobia Dance , a dance and fitness organization .
The topic of the event , which is part of an ongoing series of opportunities to learn more about CDU alumni and their journeys , was “ From CDU to Revolutionizing Programming for the Culture .” She described her passion and her desire to encourage people to embrace their attributes and encourage the creation of body confidence through the connectedness of the mind and the soul .
“ When God gave me the vision , he told me to move . I was thinking to myself , ‘ move how ?’ I didn ’ t have any background in dancing ,” said Duruhesie . “ When I started to move , I said ‘ okay well my background – I am Nigerian , and I am American so I definitely want to intertwine the two cultures into one .’ So I thought about having traditional movements , as well as modern movements , and having that foundation of the afrobeat music as primary .”
She hopes through Wazobia Dance , which was established in 2014 , these will lead to creating a body that each person will desire .
“ CDU has been a great foundation for me ,” said Duruhesie . “ When I go back to campus , I feel welcomed as if I never left and I love that community , I love the small , very intimate community . It allows you to understand and know a person truly for who they are .”
