President ’ s Message

Greetings ,

It ’ s been an exceedingly wet month of March , but the endless precipitation has not managed to dampen the Mighty Lions Spirit one bit . CDU was once again highlighted as a top school for salaries earned by our graduates . This is an accolade that has repeatedly been earned by the University in recent years . The stories out of CDU often focus on the greater good being pursued and achieved by our students , staff , and faculty . This makes sense , considering our mission is squarely dedicated to achieving social justice and health equity for underserved populations .
We here at CDU are extremely proud of our work to inspire and train these health professionals , and of the great work they do during and after attending our University . Therefore , we are also elated that we can provide a degree of economic mobility to our students . It ’ s our pledge to continue to create the best learning experience and opportunities possible while opening the doors to rewarding careers for our students .
You may have also noticed that CDU has been taking our mission and vision across the globe . We ’ ve had delegations of students and faculty visit Zambia , Cuba , and the Dominican Republic . They ’ ve met with government representatives , journeyed to remote villages , and provided essential services through clinics and care facilities . We even recently hosted a visit to our campus from the Ambassador from the Republic of Rwanda .
Much of this ties back to the core principles that have been fused into The CDU Advantage , which refers to CDU ’ s unique curriculum based on five specific pillars — research , social justice , international exposure , experiential education , and health policy . This innovative approach gives CDU graduates both solid preparation to practice in their chosen field of healthcare , and a true understanding of health disparities , health policy , and social justice .
Getting to that level of understanding takes commitment , drive , compa ssion , empathy and an unswerving belief in the ability to pursue and enact change on any and every level . Those are things that Mighty Lions have in spades , and it would certainly take more than a few raindrops to put out the fire that burns within our students . I look forward to seeing what they will achieve next .
Sincerely ,
Dr . David M . Carlisle , MD , PhD . President and CEO
