Rwandan Diplomat Visits CDU Campus
A delegation from the Central African county of Rwanda , including Professor Mathilde Mukantabana , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Rwanda to the United States of America , visited the CDU Campus in February .
They met with representatives from the University , including President David M . Carlisle , Senior Special Assistant Sylvia Drew Ivie , and COM Dean Deborah Prothrow-Stith . The ambassador from the Republic of Rwanda shared the challenges her nation faced following a destructive civil war and a horrific period of genocide . She highlighted how the people came together following that dark moment in their history , putting aside long entrenched differences to unite around a common cause of improving life in Rwanda .
The meeting concluded with a pledge to keep a dialog open about potential collaborations or programs between CDU and Rwanda .
