CDU Abstract Selected for ENDO 2023 Presentation
A team of CDU faculty and researchers ’ abstract “ Trends in the Racial and Ethnic Disparity of Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease ( MAFLD ): Data from NHANES 1988 to 2018 ,” was selected for presentation at ENDO 2023 and received special media attention via ENDO press release .
“ We feel very proud about our work , that it has been nationally and internationally recognized and will contribute to the population and provider awareness and can contribute to the well-being of the population ,”
said Dr . Magda Shaheen , CDU Faculty .
The team consists of Drs . Maga Shaheen , Katrina Schrode , Deyu Pan , and Theodore Friedman .
They hope their research will increase awareness among the population and health care providers about the increasing prevalence of MAFLD over time and that the prevalence is soaring . The prevalence of MAFLD is consistently higher overtime among Mexican Americans , and there is no medication approved to treat the disease . However , fatty liver disease can be reversed with lifestyle modification ( people who exercise and lose a lot of weight can revert to normal liver ).
