Dr . Carlisle also lauded the opening of CDU ’ s first 4-year MD program , marking it as the only such program offered through a Historically Black institution west of the Mississippi .
Looking ahead , Dr . Carlisle outlined CDU ’ s vision for the Watts-Willowbrook area and the university ’ s future .
“ Our north star ? Excellence — in our students , our programs , our entire university , and for our community ,” he said , emphasizing the focus on community service and student experience that has driven CDU ’ s success for over five decades .
The address closed with a message of commitment to CDU ’ s enduring mission .
“ Every step we take , even the challenging ones , moves us closer to fulfilling our vision of a world without health disparities ,” Dr . Carlisle concluded .
