President ’ s Message
Greetings ,
Welcome to the latest edition of CDU News . I sincerely hope the new school year is going well for all our students , faculty , and staff .
I recently had the privilege of delivering the 2023 State of the University address right here on our campus . The theme , “ CDU at a Crossroads ,” served as a powerful reminder of our journey ’ s significance . This address not only spotlighted our remarkable achievements , ongoing initiatives , and future plans , but also emphasized our deep-rooted connection to the South Los Angeles community and our unwavering commitment to uplifting communities like it across the globe . Within that address , I underscored how the fundamental importance of partnerships in realizing our vision of excellent health for all is intrinsically tied to the collaborations that drive us forward .
You ’ ll find compelling evidence of the strength of partnerships in this month ’ s issue . We proudly showcase our recently signed Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ) with community partners , a landmark achievement that reaffirms our dedication to addressing healthcare disparities and enhancing educational opportunities .
Our international reach is equally notable , with the hosting of the HBCU Global Health Consortium and the Global Health Disparities Series . Indeed CDU is a beacon of knowledge and cooperation in the realm of global and local health .
These accomplishments would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of the entire CDU community . Our staff , students , faculty , alumni , supporters , and partners have come together in an inspiring way to push the boundaries and make meaningful strides in healthcare and education . It is a testament to the strength of unity and shared purpose that defines us .
As we navigate these crossroads , CDU remains unwavering in its mission . We will continue to form a range of partnerships and collaborations as we seek to serve the underserved . Thank you for being a part of this journey .
