President ’ s Message
Greetings ,
Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter , which serves as a testament to the vibrancy and dynamism of the Charles R . Drew University of Medicine and Science community . As president and CEO of CDU , I never find myself short of reasons to be proud of our students , staff , and faculty .
Our campus was the usual hub of activity over the last few weeks as the year rolls towards completion . I witnessed the Halloween spirit brought to life on our campus as students came together to celebrate and enjoy a day filled with joy , camaraderie , and creative costumes . Visitors from our community and from abroad stopped by as we hosted events with Los Angeles Second District Supervisor Holly Mitchell , welcomed dignitaries from Rwanda and the Republic of Zambia , and also held a ” Let ’ s Move ” event that promoted healthy choices and activities to our neighbors of all ages .
CDU was also , as usual , out in the community advancing our vision of a world without health disparities . You may have seen us at Taste of Soul , the largest street fair in California , where we provided essential health services to attendees while having an opportunity to discuss CDU with the next generation of healthcare professionals who visited our booths to learn more about our programs .
Events like these exemplify the sense of unity and belonging that defines our CDU family . One only needs to take a look at our social media profiles to see an ongoing stream of CDU ’ s successes , participation , and drive to genuinely reshape the healthcare landscape .
Thank you to all Mighty Lions for your unwavering commitment to our shared mission , which motivates us to make a meaningful impact every day . Together , we continue to pave the way for a healthier , more equitable future .
