President ’ s Message
Greetings ,
As we embark on a new year , we find ourselves at the intersection of renewed hopes , ambitious goals , and the inevitable challenges that accompany growth and progress . The dawning of 2024 presents an opportune moment to reflect on our collective journey at CDU as we embark on the impactful and transformative year ahead .
This first issue of our newsletter in 2024 is a tapestry of stories that exemplify the vibrant spirit and enduring commitment of the CDU community . From the innovative approaches to student engagement demonstrated at our Resource Fair Scavenger Hunt to the inspiring 24th Annual Junior White Coat Ceremony , each story weaves into the larger narrative of CDU ’ s dedication to excellence in education , community service , and healthcare .
Our journey to the Dominican Republic underscores our global compassion and commitment to making a tangible impact , both locally and internationally . By offering vital medical assistance and engaging with the social determinants of health , our students , staff , and faculty embody the essence of CDU ’ s mission in action .
The presence of Mayor Karen Bass at our Physician Assistant Program ’ s White Coat Ceremony and the insights shared at our upcoming Community Forum on Elder Care Challenges highlight the importance of leadership and dialogue in addressing the complex health issues facing our communities . Moreover , the spotlight on Sabrina Montgomery , a student in our inaugural 4-year Medical Degree program , and the activities of our Alumni Council , underscore the strength and potential of our university family .
On a personal note , I am greatly looking forward to hosting and moderating the 9th Annual CDU President ’ s Breakfast on 2 / 29 . I am filled with anticipation for the meaningful conversations and insights that will emerge from this year ’ s theme , “ Immigration Reform : A Moral Imperative .” With a panel comprising distinguished voices in healthcare and social justice , this event promises to be a beacon of thoughtful discourse and action .
In closing , I am honored to stand with you as we continue to reach for the stars , grounded in our mission yet always looking forward to the promise of what we can achieve together .
