CDU Connects with Alumni at Inaugural Pop-Up Event
CDU hosted the inaugural SoCal Alumni Pop-Up Reception at the California African American Museum . The event , organized by the CDU Alumni Association , allowed alums to meet with a range of CDU faculty and staff , including President and CEO Dr . David Carlisle . It also provided an opportunity for former classmates to reconnect and reminisce about their CDU experiences .
“ Tonight is all about friendship , family , and togetherness at a venue that exemplifies the history , hopes , and experiences of African Americans and other people of color ,” said Dr . Carlisle . “ Tonight is also about celebrating our alumni and students – alumni-in-waiting . They hold a special place in our hearts . We look to you and your successes with awe and a sense of immense pride .”
The event also included a special unveiling of CDU ’ s new $ 75 million fundraising campaign : CDU Rising . This initiative will help CDU create the next generation of health professionals who will carry with them a mission of equity in health care and social justice .
“ The new CDU comprehensive campaign is exciting and ambitious ,” said Dr . Carlisle . “ We chose the theme CDU Rising because it manifests in words the actions and history of our university . The rising of our institution through the ashes of the Watts Rebellion to the rising of our infrastructure and capacity to educate and train the future leaders of healthcare and medicine .”
