Students Tackle Health Disparities at Inaugural BSEP Pitchfest

The Biomedical Sciences Enrichment Program( BSEP) hosted the inaugural BSEP Pitchfest Competition where the fellowship cohort of 18 students unveiled their groundbreaking ideas to combat health disparities that are prevalent in underserved communities.

Mayor Karen Bass Inspires Future Health Leaders at PA Program White Coat Ceremony

CDU’ s Physician Assistant( PA) Program’ s Class of 2023 received their long white coats in a special ceremony held on the University’ s campus before the year-end winter break. The event featured Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as the keynote speaker. Mayor Bass lauded the graduating class for their achievement, commitment, and dedication to health equity. She challenged the new PAs to be catalysts for change by becoming active participants in the world of public policy. The CDU PA program holds the distinction of being the first PA program in the state of California. The graduates represent the newest group of PAs ready to make a difference guided by the principles instilled at CDU.
The event was held in Keck Auditorium which was transformed to set the stage for the event, taking on the ambiance of a TEDx talk and the intense energy of a Shark Tank pitch. There were a total of five innovative solutions presented directly to a panel that included representatives from NASA alongside biomedical professionals.

Radiologic Technology Program Signs Affiliation Agreement with U. S. Department of Labor

CDU’ s Radiologic Technology program signed an affiliation agreement with the U. S. Department of Labor to introduce an innovative Computed Tomography( CT) Apprenticeship Program designed to transform X-ray technicians into skilled CT technicians right at their workplace. The Registered Apprentice Standards Agreement was signed on behalf of CDU by Dr. Monica Ferrini, Dean of the College of Science and Health.
