Dr. Jose Torres-Ruiz Named Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
Dr. Jose Torres-Ruiz joined CDU as the next Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost on August 2024.
Dr. Torres-Ruiz brings with him an extensive background in biochemistry and a wealth of experience in academic leadership.
He obtained his B. S. degree in chemistry with a minor in biology from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry from Washington State University.
Dr. Omolola Ogunyemi Named National Library of Medicine Board of Regents Chair
Dr. Omolola Ogunyemi, Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Professor in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at CDU, was named Chair of the Board of Regents for the National Library of Medicine.
A board member since 2021, Dr. Ogunyemi continues to advance national conversations in biomedical informatics and health equity.
Dr. Atul Nakhasi appointed Director of Science & Policy for Office of the U. S. Surgeon General CDU faculty member Dr. Atul Nakhasi has been appointed as Director of Science & Policy for the Office of the U. S. Surgeon General( OSG).
Dr. Nakhasi will serve in this position for two years while maintaining his role at CDU’ s College of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Nakhasi joined the OSG as a Senior Advisor in 2022, where he helped advise the Office on matters relating to its scientific and policy priorities before being promoted to the role of Director of Science & Policy.
