VOLUME 2, ISSUE 4 DISTRIBUTED TO 420 OUTLETS CdeO’s BEST | JULY 2013 “IN” “IN” / SCENE / THEARTS / CITY / LEISURE / ACADEME / HEALTH / PEOPLE / AWARENESS Could you tell us how USA PRODUCTS started? What motivated you to put up this type of business? Growing up in an environment where retail selling is the bread and butter is one motivation which has naturally grown in me. I knew I will be into business since I was little. In grade school, […] I would […] bring stocks like wallets, hairclips, headbands, pens, stationeries and other stuff to sell to my classmates and schoolmates. […] Whenever I sold something, even if it was just candy, my eyes lit up with happiness. There was never a year in my school life that I did not sell. When I was a nursing student, I ended up selling gloves to my classmates because I saw there was a demand and opportunity for that. When I finally shifted to the course I love the most, Business Administration, I knew I had to prosper there. I joined almost all bazaars, talipapas and Xavier Days events. I already knew what I wanted and that was to have my own business. Undeniably, selling is my passion. After college there were job offers in prestigious companies but having my own business was what I was bent to pursue. I talked to my father, who was more than willing to help me start my own business and he taught me the ropes of wholesale and retail business. Now, I get to travel to the United States and other places to purchase stocks. I tested the tides by selling online and after two months of getting good responses, I finally decided to open a store in Pabayo-Cruz Taal Streets (the birth of USA PRODUCTS). Last July 1, after a year and ten months, we transferred the store to a bigger space in Corrales Avenue. Since our secondhand products are of quality, there is no need for repairs […] unlike other secondhand items which proliferate around. For the ladies, we have authentic cosmetics from USA, which as mentioned earlier are a lot cheaper than those in the malls. We have branded bags and wallets like Ninewest, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, Xoxo and many more. I also decided to incorporate some Asian items for those who clamor for styles Filipinos are used to. We also have some very affordable blouses, doll shoes, and accessories from Bangkok. Could you tell us about your valued customers? Our customers are bargain hunters who love quality branded items. We have athletes who love branded shoes and jerseys that could spare themselves the headache of spending PHP4000+. We have motorcycling enthusiasts that are interested in race boots that could cost them PHP12,000-20,000 but we sell it for only 30% of the brand new price. If they love quality items that are affordable then USA PRODUCTS is the store for them. We have fashionistas, who love to shop for clothes and affordable authentic make-up. We have a wide selection of cosmetic brands such as MAC, Revlon, L’oreal, Cover Girl, Sally Hansen and the likes which are 30-50% cheaper than those being sold at the malls. We also have affordable, fashionable and updated clothing line that caters to students, working crowd or basically anyone on the go. When you are still in school, take advantage of all the business-related events. If you want to have your own business, it is crucial to have experience. Join bazaars, talipapas, selling events and seminars. […] Work-part time or apply for internships where you can learn how to handle finance and enrich your people skills. Read about the lives of successful entrepreneurs because they will serve as your inspirations. Set your priorities straight. Know where to invest your time. […] When you are busy with being productive, you will not only grow as a person but you will also be open to a lot of opportunities. Save up. I know as a student you have limited allowance but if you take time to budget every peso and try to save every penny it will eventually grow. Let God be your partner in business. Surrender all your doubts and troubles to Him. […] Let Him guide you. Do business for the greater glory of God . “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”- Philippians 4:13 Lastly, enjoy what you do and stay positive. There will be hurdles along the way and how you think and feel could shape your future. […] You will get there eventually. Tell us about the story behind the exciting expansion of your boutique? What makes your store a cutting edge above the rest of the RTW boutiques in the city? It is not every day that you find yourself walking in a store that sells both brand new and second-hand items. Aside from the fact that we have very affordable, updated and trendy stocks, we make sure that we provide good service to our customers and we sell quality items as well. We also offer lay-away terms which is a good alternative for those who are tight in their budgets. […] Could you tell us about the things you sell at USA PRODUCTS?
