The Department of Athletics at Central Connecticut State University consists of the comprehensive operations of an NCAA Division I FCS program in the Northeast Conference consisting of 18 intercollegiate sports, 410 student-athletes, 90 staff members and an annual operating budget of approximately $ 12 million.
At CCSU, we have established two primary objectives as a department; to provide a positive educational experience for every one of our studentathletes and to become the premier program in the Northeast Conference. Our adopted mantra is a Commitment to Excellence in all facets of our operation. We have created a student-athlete development model of Building Champions; in the classroom, in competition, in the community and in life. Together with our coaches and studentathletes, we embrace our core values of Hard Work, Commitment, Dedication, Determination, Passion, Pride and Family to achieve these goals.
In the past seven years, we have achieved unprecedented success in three key areas that tell the story of our student-athletes; academically, competitively and in the community. We built an infrastructure for success with the completion of an outdoor athletics complex that is one of the finest in the region among our peer conferences. We effectively integrated athletics into campus life and changed the perception of our department into one that is mindful of the institutional mission and serves as a positive front porch for the university. We established a brand identity with all of our constituents, internally and externally, that honors our past and embraces our future. We have created a culture of high expectations and a department that has enhanced the spirit, pride and identity of the institution. We are scripting a compelling story that has our constituents and our family believing in who we are and who we expect to be. That belief and trust is evidenced by their investment in us and the record setting fundraising numbers we have achieved in each of the last six years.
