Founded in 1849, CCSU is the oldest public university in the state of Connecticut and one of New England’ s premiere institutions of higher education. Central Connecticut is a regional, comprehensive public university dedicated to learning in the liberal arts and sciences and to education for the professions.
CCSU enrolls just over 12,000 students and the diversity of the student population has risen to 31 % in 2015.( US Labor Department)
Financial support for students has risen by 85 % since 2005-06, going from $ 57.7 million to $ 97.5 million in 2015-16.
The graduation rate in 2015-16 for Central students was 57 % and is now graduating 43 % more students in six years than in 2005-06. That graduation rate will put CCSU into the top quartile nationally among master’ s degree institutions.( IPEDS)
The CCSU endowment has grown from $ 18.4 million in 2005 to $ 66 million in 2016.( CCSU Foundation)
