The Age Of Technology   Everyday new and innovative technology is being produced, always wondering what is the next best thing. Technology of this day and age has helped transform this world into a more developed and tech savvy universe. However, with the social media buzz some are unsure if technology is bringing us in the right direction. Many of us have a cell phone, and iPod, a computer, etc. and most of us don’t realize how dependent we are on all of these pieces of technology. I think that it is okay that we have all of these wonderful technologies but we should know when to put down the cell phone and pick up our heads and speak directly. When having all of these forms of technology we then get submerged into the depths of social media. Since there are so many different sites that connect us with the outside world through our devices we have to be careful with how much time we a lot to each site. One day, when I was overwhelmed and tired of the antics I was seeing on social media, I decided to deactivate all of my accounts. I started with Facebook and worked my way to Instagram and Twitter, the three most popular sites that I personally use. My boyfriend texted me and said why I broke up with him on Facebook, I laughed because since I deactivated my Facebook it no longer showed that were in a relationship. How sad is that? That we establish our personal relationships through a form of technology and social media? It felt weird to not constantly check my phone for the latest updates on the outside world, but in contrast, it felt amazing. It felt amazing to be detached from society and to just focus on myself and not worry about everyone and their “problems”. So next time you feel stressed or you want to focus more on yourself, just hit that little deactivate button and you will begin to see a side of yourself that you never have before.   31
