Mickey Drexler
Mickey Drexler, CEO of one of my favorite companies,
has turned J.Crew around and created it into what it is
today. Drexler’s has been influenced by the fashion industry
ever since he was a child. His father worked in the garment
industry as a “junior coat manufacturer buying buttons and
piece goods.” Drexler said that he never knew exactly what
he wanted to do in life but he couldn’t have been happier
that he didn’t know. He started off at Abraham and Straus
department store. He then traveled to a few other places
such as Gilchrist, JC Penny, Macys and Anne Taylor. it wasn’t
until he found his way to the Gap that he started to grow to
become someone of importance. J.Crew took him on as
their CEO to revamp the stores image as well as
merchandise. Mickey Drexler turned the store around and
made it into what it is today.
