lense of the patriarchy
Linda M . Crate
i didn ' t see demeter as i ought to have when i was younger
viewed her through the lens of patriarchy rather than seeing her for who she truly was or appreciating the magnitude of her grief or anything she had been through ,
and i recognize now i was wrong ;
she was never controlling out of malice or cruelty but rather fear for her daughter because she could see the world and how they treated women —
i don ' t blame her for trying to protect her daughter nor do i blame her for her grief because when you lose someone precious to you ,
it is hard to appreciate the flowers .
