El Festival Internacional de Cine Guanajuato cumple una década ofreciendo
el certamen de Documental Universitario Identidad y Pertenencia, proyecto
realizado con el apoyo al fomento de la industria cinematográfica y audiovisual
del Gobierno del Estado de Guanajuato.
Durante esta década el certamen Identidad y Pertenencia ha tenido como
objetivo fortalecer en la juventud guanajuatense la identidad regional y su
pertenencia a un lugar con vastas tradiciones. En el proceso, los seleccionados
realizan un documental que refleja sus inquietudes, intereses y expectativas
en temas diversos, fomentando prácticas que ayudan en la construcción de
una cultura que sensibilice y expanda las formas de percepción y creación. Con
Identidad y Pertenencia se pretende dar visibilidad a problemas identificados
y contribuir a su solución.
Tras analizar cada proyecto fueron seleccionaron seis equipos, mismos que
iniciaron un proceso de asesoría y capacitación a través de diversos talleres de
especialización impartidos por expertos de la industria fílmica. El objetivo final
es producir un cortometraje que se exhibirá por primera vez en el marco de la
vigésimo segunda edición del GIFF.
A través de este concurso se reconoce el talento colectivo, su influencia e
importancia en las comunidades locales, se promueve a los artistas de la región
y se transmite la importancia de la educación en la industria cultural. De esta
forma, el Festival Internacional de Cine Guanajuato consolida una valiosa opor-
tunidad para que jóvenes universitarios expongan por medio de cortometrajes
documentales, las tradiciones, personajes y contextos que nos ayuden a conocer
mejor nuestra historia, nuestra identidad.
Guanajuato International Film Festival celebrates a decade offering the Identity
and Belonging University Documentary contest, a project carried out with su-
pport for the promotion of the film and audiovisual industry of the Guanajuato
State Government.
Throughout this decade the Identity and Belonging contest has aimed at
strengthening the regional identity and belonging to a place rich with traditions
in Guanajuato’s youth. During this process, the selected teams make a documen-
tary that reflects their concerns, interests and expectations on diverse topics,
promoting practices that help in the construction of a culture that sensitizes and
expands the forms of perception and creation. Identity and Belonging aims to
increase the visibility of identified problems and contribute to a solution.
Through this contest we recognize collective talent, its influence and impor-
tance in local communities, regional artists are promoted and the importance
of education in the cultural industry is transmitted. In this way, the Guanajuato
International Film Festival consolidates a valuable opportunity for young university
students to exhibit, through documentary short films, traditions, characters and
contexts that will help us to better understand our history, our identity.
After analyzing each project, we selected six teams which initiated a six
month process of advisory and training through several specialized workshops
in documentary filmmaking taught by film industry experts. The final goal is to
produce a short film, which will be premiered at the XXII edition of GIFF.
