ELKIN ROBINSON
Elkin Robinson is a musician and songwriter born in
Old Providence Island. His music is the evolution of
the folklore of the region, which highlights traditional
elements like mento and calypso, recreated with new
airs and rhythms. Elkin´s music has emerged to be
the new face of the caribbean folk and calypso. Elkin
has taken his music to the most important venues in
Colombia and was officially selected to showcase at
WOMEX 2017.
Elkin Robinson es un músico y compositor nacido en la
isla de Providencia, ubicada en el Caribe colombiano, y
que ha hecho de ritmos afrocaribeños como el calypso,
mento y zouk su principal motivo de inspiración.
En su música se destacan géneros tradicionales de
Providencia y el Gran Caribe, instrumentos como la
guitarra acústica, la quijada de caballo y el tináfono
(tina que hace las veces de bajo), junto a mensajes
positivos cantados en creole, lengua nativa de la isla.
