Television Production

Curriculum Description
The Television Production curriculum focuses on the methods and techniques for creating programming for television . Studies include reporting , producing , and delivering news programs , producing talk shows , and directing dramatic or comedy series to be delivered through the internet , television , and mobile media . This class will prepare students for higher education to be professional television journalists , editors , producers , and directors . Course will include instruction in the principles of broadcast technology , broadcast reporting , video editing , multi-camera directing , television production and professional standards and ethics .
Students will work together under the guidance of a teacher / mentor as they produce news broadcasts , television talk shows , and scripted dramas . Emphasis is placed on students demonstrating their abilities to use content and apply knowledge to real-world situations , enhancing their skills in leadership , communication , writing , speaking , problem solving , and conflict resolution .

General Education Required Courses
• English - 4 credits
• Math - 4 credits
• Science - 3 credits , must include Basic Anatomy
• Social Studies - 4 credits
• Health & Physical Education - 1 credit
• World Languages - 2 credits ( required if NC college bound )
• Electives - 4 credits in any other subject area ( Film Production would pair well )
