Fire Protection Technology

Curriculum Description
The Fire Protection Technology curriculum is designed to provide students with tehcnical and professional knowledge to make decisions regarding fire protection for both public and private sectors . It also provides a sound foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection , administration , and management .
Course work includes classroom and laboratory exercises to introduce the student to various aspects of fire protection . Students will learn technical and adminstrative skills such as fire prevention , building construction , arson investigation , fire protection safety , fire suppression management , law and codes .
Graduates should qualify for employment or advancement in fire departments , governmental agencies , industrial firms , insurance rating organizations and educational organizations . After successful completion of the program , students may qualify for their Firefighting I and II certifications .

General Education Required Courses
• English - 4 credits
• Math - 4 credits
• Science - 3 credits
• Social Studies - 4 credits
• Health & Physical Education - 1 credit
• World Languages - 2 credits ( required if NC college bound )
• Electives - 4 credits in any other subject area
