CATES◊L: A Diamond Organization Continued from page 3 and possible positions or solutions. Ideally, this is done through the e-discussion groups so as to generate discussion and consensus. The level chairs and interest group coordinators, being members of the CATESOL Board of Directors, are inside the diamond. Working with one another to reach a consensus that works well for all the levels and interest groups, they finally bring the proposed policy or position to the Board of Directors for adoption. Upon approval by the members of the Board of Directors, who have been informed by the level chairs and the interest group coordinators, the policy or position reaches the northern tip of the diamond; it is sent to the members, the public, and the legislatures. In this way, CATESOL can state that its policy and positions are truly the voice of the professionals in this field. CATESOL and Member ID Numbers Want to renew your membership, but can’t remember your ID number? Don’t worry! The ID number is not needed to renew CATESOL membership. In fact, your membership record isn’t in a place into which you can log on and make changes. The membership form that you complete online is emailed to me and deleted from the server before you even start the online payment process. Once I receive the form and either print it to be entered later that day or immediately update your record, the data that you’ve supplied are deleted from my email queue and any printed copy is shredded immediately after the data are entered.
