We played as two-person teams with two 3-person teams due to unforeseen cancellations. The teams were drawn based upon handicaps which allowed a good mix of our 18 and 9-hole players with a combination of alternate shots and scrambles on given holes. We had beautiful weather and a fun day of some crazy golf with a wonderful luncheon hosted by Bonne Olsen at her home after play. Shots could be purchased, as well as a drive on Hole #1 by Jeff, with the proceeds going to our scholarship fund. Debra Dooley and her committee did a wonderful job and we thank them for a really great day. Winning Team: Audrey Burke, Kathy Heriford and Merilee Brister; Second Place Team: Kaye Lewis and Linda Madden. C l u b Connection | January / F e b r u a r y 2 0 1 4 Chicks & Crows Finale Our season ending finale to our Chicks & Crows was held on Sunday, October 27. Jeanine Douglas created an interesting event for our two-person teams with a mix of alternate shots, better ball and captain’s choice holes. The winning team was Sarah and Woody Hutton. Tied for second were the teams of Wayne & Candy Taylor and Walt Neuser & Audrey Burke. Tied for third place were the teams of Randy & Gena Cauthen and Annette Holland & Kathy Heriford. CLGA One Hole Putting Contest: On Friday, November 29, we held a putting contest on the practice green to raise funds for our scholarship program. We had a great time and raised $375 for our scholarships. We sincerely thank all the players who participated and gave so generously to support our program. Five competitors had a holein-one and the winners were determined measuring the distance from the hole with a “putt off ” ball. Matt Meehan won first place and a round of golf for 4. Chris Hendrix took second place and won an overnight stay in one of our suites. Tash Van Dora took third place and won a hybrid club and Tammy Hutchinson, our chairperson, won a golf cart desktop clock for capturing fourth place. We also want to give a big thank you to Tammy for heading up this event, to Gena Cauthen and Cateechee Golf Club for the prize donations, and to Jeff Gotham and the CLGA members who helped Tammy on the practice green (Kathy Heriford, Gena Cauthen, Bonne Olsen, Audrey Burke and Camille Caballero). It was a fun morning for all. 2014 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Our schedule of events for the coming year will be announced in a future newsletter.
