TRAVIS HAMMOND
I began fly fishing at age 12 and have never
stopped. My first quarry on the fly were panfish
and largemouth bass in the farm ponds of the
Alabama countryside but I soon expanded my
horizons to saltwater species of the Gulf Coast.
Eventually I moved to Washington State were I
mainly pursued trout for years until I discovered
the amazing warm water fishery of the Columbia
River Basin. For the last five years I have focused
mainly on carp but still do chase trout and
steelhead. Sight casting to carp to me is fly fishing
in its purest form. It calls on all of your skills for
spotting the fish, presenting the fly and detecting
the take (the hardest and most rewarding part).
