Catalyst
Junior Secondary Curriculum
Guildford Grammar School’s unique
Catalyst Program aims to meet the specific
needs of students in Years 7 to 9, providing a
smooth and engaging transition to secondary
schooling. The Program offers a rich curriculum
of extraordinary opportunities for every child
to discover their individual strengths, passions
and interests with a sense of achievement.
Catalyst is designed to ignite a love for learning
that will stay with students well beyond their
time at the School.
The first years of secondary school mark a
significant time in a child’s development. It is a
time when adolescents will discover their likes
and interests, and determine what they are good
at. They are still learning who they are, testing
the water in life and in school.
On entering Senior School, students expect to
be challenged and have greater ownership over
their learning. Catalyst offers flexibility, rigour
and choice to ensure that students at every
ability can explore new areas of interest in a safe
environment. This experience gives students the
confidence they need to pursue their own brand
of personal excellence, giving them the skills to
become successful and confident learners.
In addition to learning core literacy and
numeracy competencies, students have many
opportunities to explore areas of interest through
a wide range of specialised Discovery courses.
Catalyst is designed to ignite
a love for learning that will
stay with students well beyond
their time at the School.
