MY HOPE IS THAT YOU BURN INSIDE
There’s also this idea of being the center of the fire that I find intriguing. Being not
number one but in the middle of the action. You’re amidst the craziness and the
successes and the failures. That’s your fuel. You watch and you learn and this is where
you perfect your timing. You learn when to act and not act. When to keep your mouth
shut and when to speak up. Observant, like a dog.
YOUR OWN FIRE–
I was always intrigued by how a dog sticks its head out the window but doesn’t like
air being blown in its face. I wasn’t quite sure what it meant but I think I’ve figured
it out. We all seek control and doing things when the time is right for us. I won’t take
someone blowing in my face, but I’ll stick my head out the window when I want to.
I kept noticing that windows were circulated my thoughts when I sat down to write. I
wanted to resist it because of how cliché is seems but now, I’m glad I let it happen. At
first I pictured someone sitting and staring out. What is it about staring out a window
that provokes so much wonder? Is it to see what’s outside? Or just what’s ahead? Is
the window closed? Is it open?
I guess that answer is up to us. We’re all inventing and reinventing ourselves every
day. Change is good and changing your mind is better. Sometimes, some of the
scariest people are those who have never changed their mind about anything.
–THAT YOU ARE YOUR OWN
My hope is that you burn inside your own fire and throw in every person, experience,
conversation, defeat and success and when the time is right for you, amidst the chaos
of possibility and at the intersection of action and reaction, that you are your own
catalyst and you hang your head out the window… at your own will.
