Another friend took me to Mt. Laguna where we hiked to the summit of Garnet Peak and sat up there for over an hour talking and drinking a beer. On our honeymoon camping trip, we surfed Malibu and although it was the most crowded surf break I have ever seen, it was the ultimate experience to catch waves there. What a year to be alive. There were so many great moments that just puzzled together an epic year. Towards the end of our journey in California, Travis and I made a huge commitment to each other and decided to get married in San Diego after being engaged for 6 months. The growth that we endured together during this year was exponential and we were ready to commit to a lifetime together. W O R D S | P H O T O S : K N I G H T When I try to tell these stories to people whether it was a camping trip, a surf session, or an afternoon hike, It’s so hard to describe how they changed me and made me grow. I worked at Trader Joe’s and the people I worked with changed my life. I will always see them as family no matter how much time passes. A lot of people have questioned me about why a grocery store is so great to work in. It’s something I can’t explain because it wasn’t just a grocery store, or just any Trader Joe’s. It’s the store I worked in, the people I bonded with each day, and what I made out of it. That experience became a great metaphor for my life. It’s 178
