STANLEY is the pioneer in measuring tools . We invented the first steel tape rules in 1930 . In 1963 , the classic D-shaped PowerLock ® design was introduced . It had the world ’ s first coil-able spring and sliding lock , elements that continue to be the core of modern day designs . PowerLock ® was also a part of Apollo 11 ’ s Lunar Landing Gear in 1969 .
