3 Sunstone & Iolite Sunstone
The orange-gold hue of sunstone is due to reflections from minute scales of red copper. This mineral is known as aventurine-feldspar, it is closely related to labradorite and often thought of as the sister stone. Iolite exhibits blue / grey dichroism which makes it shimmer. Approx. 1- 3 cm. India.

7 Ammolite on Matrix
Ammolite is a rare opal-like gemstone found along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. It is made of the fossilized shells of ammonites, which are composed primarily of aragonite— the same mineral contained in Mother of Pearl. The iridescent colour of ammolite comes from interference with light from stacked layers of thin platelets of aragonite. The thicker the layers, the more reds and greens produced. Approx. 3- 12 cm.
