Artist statement
Fascinated by repetitive forms in nature and landscapes, I always
try to push boundaries. Using porcelain will always be a challenge.
Though I used for Asterias also stoneware clay to get different col-
ors to create some depth in the work. By using different glazes, the
light plays with the forms.
For me, Asterias is the landscape in my head, connections between
brain cells. But for others maybe the forms also appear on seastars
or squids. When microscopic particles of marine life compares with
the smallest wedges in the body, you will notice that there is not so
much difference between them.
Asterias invites you to walk trough my mind.
Fascinada por las formas repetitivas en la naturaleza y en los pai-
sajes, siempre trato de ir más allá. El uso de la porcelana siempre
será un desafío. Aunque, en Asterias, también he utilizado gres
para obtener diferentes colores y así crear un poco de profundidad
en la obra. Mediante la utilización de diferentes esmaltes, la luz
juega con las formas.
Para mí, Asterias representa el paisaje de mi cabeza, las conexio-
nes entre las células cerebrales. Pero para otros tal vez las formas
también se parezcan a las estrellas de mar o calamares. Si compa-
ras las partículas microscópicas de la vida marina con las partes
más minúsculas del cuerpo, te darás cuenta de que no se diferen-
cian tanto entre ellas.
