1020 that raised the white panels of the door. The ping-pong table was blocking the parking space inside. Eddie turned off the car and went to put the table away. Tanya and Nicole were nearby when they saw Eddie reach for the table.
The table was sitting there because Justin had won, for the first time, playing against his father. Justin had almost done cartwheels across the garage after beating his father in the heated match. Volley after volley, Justin returned everything Eddie had to offer. The thought came crashing in on Eddie and brought him to his knees. It was Tanya and Nicole who helped him to his feet. He had been strong for them. It was their turn to return the favor.
The house was spotless as they helped the broken man to his room. The cleaning crew, Sam sent, left nothing except the faint smell of the cleaning products they used to remove the pool of blood. They all cried themselves to sleep.
The rumble of the garage door woke Tanya. She rolled over to make sure Eddie had not gotten up to finish what he started earlier. They had not closed the door. Eddie had not made his rounds as he had every night since they purchased the home.“ Eddie. I heard the garage door,” Tanya said.“ What? he asked from his stupor.“ I think someone is in the house,” she said.
