tends to overlook the maintenance need of the airline as an important factor and runs the planes
on expense of its image. This particular study found that the less profitable airlines tends to
encounter more accidents and safety issue rather than more profitable companies. This helps
these companies to maintain the level of profitability set without hitting the bottom line.
However, Robichaud (2012) found another intriguing factor that shape the safety
measures of the airline and aviation industry. According to his research there is significant
impact on the aviation safety due to maintenance, which means that the low maintenance of the
airlines would posits high risk on the passenger lives and also the equipment (plane). On
analyzing the research deeply, it has been found that the accidents that are caused due to the
maintenance inadequacy are more severe in nature than any other kind. It leaves no sign of live
behind thus making itself the most disastrous plane crashes in the world.
In addition to the above study and with slight modification, the researchers have
concluded that there is a life of each plane, the usage frequency and the age of the airplane are
another important factors that posits great risk to safety of the aviation and reduces the
passengers. An inverse relation has been found that the more the age of the plane the more are
the chances of crash due to technical or maintenance issues. Since with age the plane become
unpredictable in nature, the continuous check and test flight would not open up the issues
pertaining inside the plane, until certain situation or pressure hits the plane. According to crash,
the ageing planes are so unpredictable that the mechanic department and the on-ground experts
even fails to identify the actual reason weak link in the plane before the flight. (A. NELSON, &
N. DREWS, 2007).
