So What Does
This Mean for
You and Me?
God is looking for people and organizations who
want to be a catalyst for awakening — folks who
will get down on their knees and say, “Here I am.”
People who will raise their hands and say,
“What can I do?”
People who understand that the time is shorter
than we know ... and have the courage to say,
“Where do we start?”
Let me say it again. God is moving now.
Awakening is coming. But His heart is broken
over our young people.
Consumed with dark struggles, they are part
of a culture unlike any we’ve ever seen.
Consider that:
80% of America’s young people are ambivalent
toward biblical practices like prayer and
dependence on Scripture for life’s answers.
The younger the generation, the more
post-Christian it is (Barna, “Churchless”).
18- to 25-year-olds are the biggest abusers
of prescription drugs, including opioids
(National Institute on Drug Abuse).
Young adult overdoses from prescription
drugs are up 400% since 1999 (National
Institute on Drug Abuse).
Half of 12- to 20-year-olds have been
bullied, with 17% happening online
(Digital Trends.com).
Suicide is an epidemic — Tragically, many
youth don’t feel their life has purpose.
According to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention:
• It is the second leading cause of death
among those 10-24, tripling since 1960.
• 7th- to 12th-graders make 5,400 suicide
attempts every day.
• In just 10 years, suicides of 10- to 17-year-
olds skyrocketed by 70% among white
students, and 77% among black students.
