Halo Scroll Tiara Cartier, 1936
his beautiful tiara has an
extensive history through
three generations of the
House of Windsor. It was
initially purchased by The Duke of
York (later King George VI) for his
wife, The Duchess of York (later Queen
Elizabeth). It is formed as a band of
16 graduated scrolls, hence its name,
set with 739 brilliants and 149 baton
diamonds. The tiara was then presented
to their daughter, Princess Elizabeth,
by her mother on her 18th birthday.
The Queen loaned it to HRH Princess
Margaret for the Coronation in 1953.
Bringing the story right up to date, The
Queen also loaned it to her daughter-in-
law, The Duchess of Cambridge, on the
occasion of her wedding in April 2011.
