SPORT ING KINGS
The Srivaddhanaprabha family return to the UK polo fields this summer
to defend their high-goal polo titles with a major sporting trophy already
in their collection – the Premier League Football Trophy. Gareth Davies
tries to find the secret of this unique sporting success?
t is impossible to ignore the
feats of King Power over the
12 months from May 2015
to May 2016. Staggering
achievements on any scale in both
sports of polo and Association Football.
Success in both spheres has come hand-
in-hand, by foot and by hoof.
Rewind to May 2015 and Leicester
City Football Club clawed their way out
of the relegation zone to just surviving
the cut in the Premier League. No doubt
heaving huge sighs of relief, Vichai
Srivaddhanaprabha, the Leicester City
FC chairman, and his sons Aiyawatt
(Top) and his brother Apichet, (Tal),
turned their attention to polo. The
brothers headed up two King Power
teams in the Cartier Queen's Cup 2015,
with Top winning the Queen's Cup and
Tal the subsidiary final.
