Film: The Cooperative Extension office (1329 Waterloo Lane, across from Lampe Park) will show “The Passive House Revolution”, a 45-minute film about how a home can be constructed or retrofitted to reduce home energy consumption by 80-90 percent, at 6 p.m. The methods were developed in the US in the 1970s during the Oil Embargo, and then abandoned as the oil supply became more available again. Germany picked up the idea and has been using it with great success, and there’s a resurgence of interest in it here in the US. Refreshments included, seating is limited. Fishing Derby Sign-ups: Registration for the 25th annual Kids Fishing Derby (May 31-June 1) will be available every Saturday in April and May from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Walgreen’s in Gardnerville and at Accolades Trophies, 1532 Hwy 395 No. 10 during business hours. Kids Fishing Derby: The Kids Fishing Derby will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
