It didn ’ t take long for the bass fishermen to leave the area after the towel incident ! Jeff Skelton was going to meet up with Rick Slinker and his group this day with Rick picking him up at the marina . Bad phone reception and not being able to get in touch with Rick , Jeff sent me a message for help . Richard and I brought in our lines and headed to the marina to pick him up . Meeting Jeff for the first time seemed like we had known each other forever . We brought Jeff to our swim where he was able to catch several fish that first night on the other end of the point . Thursday morning we walked down to check on Jeff and to tell him that Richard
5 was making coffee for us . He told us that he had two 30 ’ s in the keep sack and asked if I could take some pictures for him . After a few photo ’ s the two carp were released . Watching them swim away is a truly awesome feeling . After he released the fish , we walked down to our campsite for some coffee and conversation . As we are talking , alarms started screaming , throwing my coffee down and running to grab my rod . Holy crap it was heavy ! I looked at Richard and Jeff and said it is about to pull me in and so hard to reel ! When in the net I was shocked at how big this carp was . When we weighed it I almost passed out ! 41 POUNDS ! I was one happy carper ! Jeff ’ s coffee was cold now but what the heck its 41 pounds !!!!! We put it in the cradle so we could get some pictures of it . I was on cloud nine . After I set it free and we caught our breath we brought our lines in so we could take Jeff over to see Rick and the others . They weren ’ t having any luck at their swim so Krzysztof and Erni came over to our swim to fish with us . They started catching and didn ’ t want to stop the next day but the others were waiting for them so they could load up and go home . Richard and I decided to leave also , leaving Jeff there by himself on the remote island with no boat to leave . He would be there until the next crew came out three days later . I really enjoyed sitting around the fire at night with these excellent fishermen and all I can say is good people … Thanks guys . On looking back , a new PB of 41 lbs . won ’ t be forgotten .
