The Brand New 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 Is On Its Way to the US Market

Ford announced last month that it’s highly anticipated 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 will come with an additional off-road package with a range of cutting edge features that might put its close competitors at an uneasy place.

The 2018 Ford Expedition FX4, which is a full-size 4X4 five-door family SUV, is built to tackle the great outdoors. According to Ford itself, the entire Expedition range can tackle anything from off-road trails to muddy unpaved roads while also being able to cruise through highways without a hiccup.

Officials at Ford said that the new FX4 model is specially designed for the existing 20 percent Ford Expedition owners, who specifically use their SUVs for personal off-road adventures. As a result, the FX4 will come with an all-new aluminium-alloy body that will also have a rough steel frame for extra strength, which will only weight 136 kg, a notable decrease from its current model.

The new 2018 Expedition FX4 will come equipped with the company’s proprietary 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which will generate more than 279 kW of power and an impressive 637 Nm of torque. It will also have an exciting 10-speed automatic transmission system to transfer this power to the wheels.

The off-road Ford Expedition FX4 package will have the option for drivers to manually select between 2WD and 4WD, and will come with Ford’s patented electronic limited-slip rear differential to improve off-road handling in low-traction conditions.

The company further stated that the FX4’s towing capacity has been increased up to 4,218 kg. The SUV will also come with improved all-terrain tires, which will have seven different skid plates to protect its underbody.

The 2018 Ford Expedition FX4 is expected to be available for buying by the end of this fall.
