The One-Millionth Porsche 911 Car Has Just Rolled Out of the Production Line
Without a doubt, the Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic sports cars ever built. With more than 50 years of history, the very first 911 model rolled out in 1963. With such a proud record, the German based sports car manufacturer recently announced that the one-millionth Porsche 911 came out of its production line located in Zuffenhausen.
The car that broke the record is a Porsche 911 Carrera S. It was released in a special “Irish Green” colour, and the company claims that it has many exclusive features under its hood. The two-door 911 still remains as a highly important product of Porsche and has contributed to the company’s position as one of the most profitable car manufacturers in the world.
The 911 contributes to a special segment in the premium sports car market, and last year alone more than 32,000 models were delivered to customers across the globe.
Porsche proudly claims that over 70% of all 911 models ever built are still being used. The car’s legendary status is a result of the countless motorsport successes that it has achieved throughout the years. No other sports car comes close to its achievements. In fact, more than half of all 30,000 wins Porsche has attained in the racing arena through the years can be accredited to the Porsche 911.
The Chairman of the Porsche’s Supervisory Board, Dr Wolfgang Porsche, has been a part of the car’s development since its inception. He stated that when the first 911 came out, he was able to take a road trip with his father over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The feeling of being in a 911 for him is as enjoyable back then as it is now.
