It's a Hard Knock Life
Times are tough, the heat is beating down like it has a personal vendetta against everyone and the vehicle market is grinding along trying desperately to keep itself alive. Yes, you still are getting cars registered, and there are plenty for Range Rovers and Land Cruisers being bought, but the low to mid end of the market is finding it tough. The demand for second hand vehicles is increasing, and you are going to start see prices of these vehicles start to go up. Due to limited supply, you are going to see the prices of certain used models go up quite fast, creating a situation where even the second hand cars with 70% lease availability become unaffordable. I know it sounds like it’s a bit of a stretch and if it happens, it’ll be a long way off, but Sri Lanka’s second hand car market has always been very quick to react to changes in supply and demand. Hopefully things will
improve, either through policy updates or new offerings.
