Chief Examiner for Orthodontics with the
Royal College of Dentists of Canada as well
as an Examiner for the American Board of
Orthodontics.
Not many orthodontic offices have ipads,
movie rooms and automated, colour-coded

and function. It keeps every day interesting.”
Led by Dr. Lesley Williams, a certified specialist in orthodontics, when it was time
to build the South Surrey Smiles office, Dr.
Williams ensured everyone on the team contributed to the process.
Because she works closely with her staff and
everyone is involved in client happiness, Dr.
Williams built a team which is not only great
at what they do, but also believes in creating
a fun and friendly environment.
“The office looks and flows how it does “We have patients from age 7 up to their 80s

individually,” Dr. Williams said.
The facility features an automated check in
system that guides patients to the right waiting area. Once there, pre-pasted toothbrushes
are available at auto-flow sinks to conserve
water. While waiting, patients, family and
friends can use free wifi, ipads, take in a 3D
movie or enjoy a customized latté or tea.
“It’s very efficient and friendly,” Dr. Williams
said. “We want patients to have a positive
experience. Everything is designed around
function and logistics, but with a focus on
patient comfort.”
She noted kids actually enjoy going to the
office, some even want to bring their friends
along to see it.
Of course, a practice like South Surrey
Smiles isn’t built from chance. Dr. Williams
has a wealth of experience behind her.
Part of that individualization includes complimentary consultations and monitoring to
ensure the right timing for treatments (if any
are required) is achieved.
Each staff member is specially trained
in orthodontics as well as general dental
experience. Everyone on the team pursues
ongoing training – above and beyond what
is required by their licensing.

“I want my patients to know how important
they are to us. Whether they need orthodontics now, down the road, or never, we want to
be sure they are receiving the best possible
care and attention to their needs,” noted Dr.
Williams. “We are always improving what
we do and how we do it. We want to have a
positive impact on each patient’s life.”
The team at South Surrey Smiles is always
engaged within and outside the office working together at various fundraising and
community events.
Having graduated from UBC in general
dentistry, Dr. Williams later chose to study
orthodontics because of the problem solving
involved in the specialization. Orthodontics “It’s about giving, supporting the community
allows Dr. Williams to correct issues like and being part of the community,” summaroverbites, underbites, space between teeth, ized Dr. Williams.
