She added that, although she had the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) subjects that would allow her to matriculate into the teaching department at the UWI, it was not something she found interesting. She admitted that being at the UWI and pursing this degree feels like a burden to her. She said most of the time she feels depressed because she is not passionate about what she is doing. Anderson opened up about her feelings of sadness Anderson said her mother chose her older sister’s career as well. Her sister wanted to become a veterinarian, but from the ninth grade, she was told to aspire to teach. Dr. Gordon Stair said there is no distinct career field that most parents want their children to pursue. However, she said many parent s do not want their children to become involved in the music industry, but there are some parents who do and will, therefore, try to fulfil their dreams there too. 53
