Creativity is the inspirational energy and knowledge that spur many individuals, including young men and women, to new industrial ventures with a vision for future transformations of societies. Innovation tends to emerge where the value of Creatives is favourably perceived with high degree of freedom to set one s agenda. Creative talents are better organised through business and supported by key institutions. The current environment for developing countries to unlock such potential, while vast, is globally and intensely competitive. Many developing countries in search of assistance for creative assets development have therefore appealed to UNIDO through its Creative Industries technical assistance programme for support. Under the programme, UNIDO is seeking to enhance sustainable national development strategies. In response to an increasing number of requests from countries ranging from Bhutan, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Peru and the Caribbean island states, UNIDO has been intensifying its assistance to promote the development of cultural assets. It has been doing this through Creative Industries, under prevailing conditions of global competition and concerns for harnessing environment-friendly resources. Creative Industries is considered a key sector to facilitate operationalization of new perspectives and technologies, through sustainable national development strategies.
