Many key skills come into play when pursuing a career in forensic science . Attention to detail will play an important role and your analytical skills will also be put to the test . Often working as part of a team , you will need to be able to solve problems together and meet deadlines . Your findings will also need to be effectively communicated to colleagues and in court to people who are not forensic experts . This is usually done through a written report , although sometimes you may be required to provide evidence in person as an expert .
In order to become a forensic scientist , you will need an undergraduate degree in forensic science . Alternatively , you can obtain a postgraduate award in forensic science after completing a related science degree such as physics , biology , chemistry , applied sciences or medical sciences .
