Following the government ’ s announcement , from 17 May , alongside step three of the roadmap , higher education providers can resume in-person teaching and learning for all remaining students .
For many students , this elicits mixed emotions . We ’ ve put together some FAQs from soon to be graduates looking for support as they return to university .
When Can I Return to My University and Accomodation ?
As outlined by the Government , university students will be able to return from the 17th May . This means you will be able to attend lectures and receive in-person support from your lecturers and tutors . By the end of the term , you will also be able to engage in cocurricular and on-campus activities including : career support , society events and more .
How should I travel back to university ?
To ensure you are following the government travel guidelines , you should follow the Safer Travel Guidance outlined . Whether you ’ re travelling to university via public or private transport to ensure you minimise the
COVID-19 transmission risk , you should :
• Plan ahead
• Travel safely
• Check prior to travelling
• Wear a mask
• Keep a 2 meter distance between other passengers where possible
• Ensure to regularly sanitise your hands
• Where possible open the window to let fresh air in
If you ’ re travelling from a surge testing area , different public health guidance may apply so ensure you get tested before travelling . If you test positive you MUST NOT travel . You will need to isolate with your household immediately and follow the latest guidance from the government .
Do I have to take a test when I return to university ?
As a university student , you are encouraged to have a COVID-19 test before returning to university . You can do this by ordering a test online or through your local community testing programme . Once you arrive at university , you should take three tests at an on-site testing facility , followed by two tests a week . Your university will also share guidance with you .
