Introduction to Heavy Equipment
This course offers an opportunity for students to build on their knowledge and skills developed in Industry Fundamentals and Occupational Safety. It introduces them to heavy equipment operations and is also the second step towards gaining a Level One Industry Certification in Heavy Equipment Operations. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the history and traditions of the impact heavy equipment
has had on construction and infrastructure projects. The student will explore and learn different heavy equipment terminology, operator responsibilities, career opportunities
as well as apply knowledge of the basic principles of safety. In addition, students will be introduced to and develop skills to prepare graded surfaces and execute
basic earth moving activities.
Prerequisite: Carpentry I
