COSMETOLOGY CAREER & TECHNICAL CERTIFICATES

WHAT IS IT?

Cosmetology is a one-year technical trade program that consists of 1,200 contact hours. Jobs in the industry include those in customer care, and also in merchandising, scientific, and editorial fields. Cosmetologists work in salons, spas, medical, and educational facilities; photography, movie, and print or digtial media production.
Courses in fundamental skills, theory, techniques, sales, public relations and salon management prepare students to take the State Board Licensure Examination. Students practice their skills prior to entering the profession by providing services to the public at the EFSC Cosmetology Salon.
Two Career and Technical Certificates available:
• Cosmetology Certificate – hair styling, scalp treatments, braiding, hair extensions, coloring and highlighting, hair cutting and sculpting, facials, make-up, nails, and waxing.
• Facial Specialty Certificate – facial massage, aromatherapy facials, exfoliation, hot-waxing, and make-up application.
Note: Cosmetology is a limited access program. A specialized application process is required.
