TRANSFERABLE SKILLS

Transferable skills are abilities you have learned ( skills , processes , techniques , tools , etc .) or developed . They can be useful and needed in the next position you hold . Sometimes these skills are even directly related to the position for which you are applying .
Transferable skills may come from experiences other than employment ( i . e ., class activities , community services , and participation in clubs or associations ). Do not limit your knowledge and skillsets only to those that come from past work experiences . Study the following chart on transferable skills . Complete one for yourself that will help you identify your skill capability levels . When you are finished , you can compare your skills with the skills required in the jobs that interest you . This will enable you to understand how well you qualify for a position . Also , you will know what additional training or experience you need .
