TRANSFERABLE SKILLS

Transferable skills are abilities you have learned( skills, processes, techniques, tools, etc.) or developed. They can be useful and needed in the next position you hold. Sometimes these skills are even directly related to the position for which you are applying.
Transferable skills may come from experiences other than employment( i. e., class activities, community services, and participation in clubs or associations). Do not limit your knowledge and skillsets only to those that come from past work experiences. Study the following chart on transferable skills. Complete one for yourself that will help you identify your skill capability levels. When you are finished, you can compare your skills with the skills required in the jobs that interest you. This will enable you to understand how well you qualify for a position. Also, you will know what additional training or experience you need.
